4Nice crib--but--check for warped/broken parts and allow extra timeSep 26, 2008
9/25/08
We received this crib as a gift and it was ordered directly through BabyAge. The quality of the crib seems good, but when we received it, two of the boards were so badly warped that they were unusable. I called BabyAge to find out what to do. BabyAge customer service was helpful and offered to send two replacement boards for the warped boards ASAP. Unfortunately, only one was shipped. (The customer service rep only ordered one.) That weekend, I called them back and told them I needed another board. They shipped two more boards out that I just received today.

In all, it's taken about two weeks just to get past step four in the assembly directions because of the problem with the boards. Fortunately, we didn't wait until the last minute.

Also, I tried to submit a review to the BabyAge site directly, but was sent a link to confirm my review that didn't work! It was never posted. I used the site feedback function to alert them and never heard anything from them. I guess they'd rather ignore anything less than stellar feedback.

It truly isn't espresso color. It is more of a dark oak. But the color is fine for me--I only wanted a dark brown color anyway.

Crib seems nice...but then again, we're still trying to assemble it!

UPDATE:
Just finished assembling the crib on 10/12/08.

We had to order a new stabilizer bar because the metal piece inside that should accept a 40 mm screw was warped/manufactured incorrectly and wouldn't allow us to insert a screw. BabyAge once again sent the parts quickly and without any trouble at all. We used the new parts to install, only to discover that...

One of the sides of the crib has a broken slat. There is a sharp piece that sticks out into the baby's sleeping area. We will need to have BabyAge send us a new side. The good thing is that it's the last step in the directions and doesn't require the disassembling of anything else.

Other than that, the crib is very nice. There are some parts that apparently didn't get enough stain (bare wood shows on some corners of the pieces) but the crib appears sturdy and very elegant.

UPDATE:

We're still waiting for the damaged crib side to arrive. I called BabyAge again last night and asked about the missing part. I had called on Tuesday, October 14 and they said it would probably ship out the following day. It didn't. They said that they were backed up a bit, but would send it overnight, at the latest on Monday, October 27, if not October 24.

Talk about cutting it close. My C-section is scheduled for October 31!
