Excellent!Mar 29, 2007 We bought this on a whim during a big sale at USA Baby. We were pregnant with our first child, and didn't know what to buy, so we bought this infant seat on clearance because it was cheap. Somehow we got extremely lucky! After we had our son I noticed that our car seat was much more sturdy and a bit larger than the Graco & Evenflo infant seats our friends were carrying around. I then began to do some research on this car seat, and learned how great it is after-the-fact.
This seat was easy to install, and has a handy compartment on the base that stores the instruction booklet. It looks and feels like a very durable, high quality seat. The sun shade is nice and large. It comes with a matching "boot" that snaps on to keep baby warm during the cooler months- an awesome feature! The interior is more padded than other seats and has waterproof fabric, so spit-up & diaper leaks can easily be wiped up. It's roomier and can hold a child up to 2 pounds heavier than most other seats, so right there it's a better value. The only downsides are that it is heavier to carry around than most of the smaller & cheaper infant seats, and it cannot be used without the base- but I'd trade having a lighter seat for increased safety any day. It's also MUCH safer to use an infant seat with a base, so it's fine with me that it cannot be strapped in the without the base. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Top notch infant car seatFeb 18, 2007 Our son was about 10 pounds at birth and we used this car seat right up until he was 22 pounds. It was very easy to install and get a nice tight fit. The release handle is located at the top of seat, making release very easy. The seat always locks into the base with ease. The seat is well padded and our son found it very comfortable as he would sleep in this seat for a few hours even after we brought him back into the house. We highly recommend this seat.

I Love It!!Dec 02, 2006 I currently own two Britax roundabouts, this carseat and two compass booster seats. I Love this seat. We had an evenflow with my first and second. They hated it! When I took it apart to clean I noticed it had no padding at all and newborns typically don't come with their own. This one is comfortable and also has the the EPS foam for extra protection. The reviewers who said it was heavy are right but honestly, Do you want a light carseat for your baby? Have you ever carried a "light" infant carrier? I buy britax convertible car seats because I feel they are the safest. I'd rather spend more and know my kids are safe. I felt this was the safest for my baby. I did look at the Britax also but this one had better support and padding making it more comfortable.

Good product with a few crucial short comingsNov 24, 2006 To be fair, this is a very well designed and built car seat. The handle is all metal, the seat is extremely sturdy, and installing the base in the car is amazingly easy and secure thanks to the ingenious lever (no need for metal clips). It also connects to the base with two metal hooks instead of plastic ones, making a very secure connection.
However, I ended up returning it due to a few short comings that I just didn't want to live with. It seems that Compass wanted to make it so 'safe' that they made it impossible to do certain 'unsafe' activities - such as putting the car seat on the shopping cart (most other car seats have a built in slot on the bottom that hooks on to the top part of the cart), or temporarily putting the car seat in the car without the base (again, most car seats have a pass-thru on the bottom that enables you to secure it temporarily when you don't have a base).
I tried to convince myself that have a safe car seat is more important, and wanted to overlook those annoying design flaws. But after numerous shopping trips to supermarket where my wife and I had to push two separate carts, we finally decided that it's just not worth it. If you could sacrifice those conveniences, this is a very well built car seat - however, it's not 'light' at all, and takes up considerable space in the car (could barely fit it in my small 4 door sedan - Hyundai Elantra).

high quality seatJul 30, 2006 I am very pleased with my purchase. After doing alot of research mainly in comparison with the Graco line I felt this was the best purchase. When you actually touch the seat you can feel how good the material feels, and that it is a sound structure. Cushiony material is already sewn into the seat cover making it a smooth ride. I took my infant on a 12hr road trip with no problems. Installation is extremely easy and it pretty much slides into place on its own in the car, and comes out just as easliy. A unique feature is the seat cushion actually buttons onto the carseat itself keeping the material from sliding.
